Woman, 22, vanished after Friday night out as mountain rescue teams called to help desperate search

MOUNTAIN rescue teams are desperately searching for a 22-year-old woman who vanished after a night out on Friday.

Rivers and hills in Merthyr Tydfil are being scoured for rugby player Brooke Morris, who was last seen in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Brooke’s rugby club teammates have also joined the search for the missing Nelson RFC player – who they describe as “one loved girl”.

On Monday morning, Nelson RFC shared a picture of Ms Morris and thanked volunteers for their help.

The club said: “The response and love shown for Brooke has been amazing.

“Hats off to her teammates and the endless amount of volunteers that have searched tirelessly the last few days.

“Brooke you’re one loved girl.”

Brooke is described as 5ft 3ins tall with long hair and a slight build.

She was last seen wearing boyfriend-style jeans and a red long sleeve top.

‘ONE LOVED GIRL’

Her friends have issued desperate pleas on social media to find her.

One friend wrote: “Brooke; where are you?! Everyone is wondering where you are! You’ve got everyone even people who aren’t close to you are worried.”

Another wrote: “Get your bum home Brooke, everyone is so worried about you.”

Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Team joined said they searched “land and water” for Brooke.

The search was later suspended “pending ongoing police inquiries.”

A mountain team spokesman said: “We would like extend our thanks and gratitude to local members of the community for assisting with the search.


“We would also like to give a special thank you to Treharris Phoenix Rugby Football Club, for allowing us use of their club house and also providing refreshments to our volunteers.”

South Wales Police are appealing for information.

A force spokesman said: “Officers are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare and would urge Brooke to make contact to confirm she is safe.”
