The 48-year-old left the bodies of his mum Tatiana, 68, and dad Vladimir, 69, at the family home in Kensington, West London, in their home for three days.

He called cops and said he wanted to “surrender himself for murder”.

Police raced to the flat and found Tatiana dead in the bath fully clothed, while Vladimir’s body was in the bedroom.

Koudryavtsev had acted out of “anger and rage” in a row with the couple over his Mastiff dog Enzo after bringing to pooch to live with them when he split with his wife.

He also fantasied about killing his parents for three months because of the “issues” they had with the pooch.

He admitted murder at the Old Bailey last week and asked for the “maximum possible” sentence.

Koudryavtsev, who has dual Russian and New Zealand nationality, said he “believed he was in control” when he slaughtered his parents.

The killer also revealed he had considered killing his parents for three-and-a-half months as a “deterrent”.

He said: “I was imagining scenarios as a deterrent from doing it, trying to fend off the rage. This was in period of the last three-and-a-half months before it happened.”

But he added: “I cannot say I was really planning. If you asked me the day before whether I would do it or not, I would say no, definitely not.

“On the day I did it, I was fully conscious that was what I was doing.”

After he was arrested, Koudryavtsev told police he had been living with his wife in New Zealand but moved back in with his parents after they split up.

Prosecutor Paul Jarvis said: “He had taken his dog, Enzo, to live in their home.

“Issues had arisen between his parents and his dog.

“He clearly valued the dog and placed the dog on a par with the interests of his parents and he said for about three to four months because of the effects on the relationship he had been contemplating killing them.

“He went on to say that on the day in question he finally decided that he would do it and took the knife he had with him and killed his mother in the bathroom and father in the bedroom before leaving with the dog and several days later calling the police to bring to their attention what he had done.”

A psychological report by Dr Ian Cumming revealed Koudryavtsev suffered from “anger and rage linked to a personality structure where he has put his needs above his parents’.”

He said the killings resulted from “pre-morbid personality traits and the long standing frustration with his parents.”
