FOLLOWING HMV going into administration, the shutting down of multiple stores and the music shop all but disappearing from our high streets – many Brits thought we had said goodbye to the record and film retailer.

But now the all new HMV Vault is opening, but where is the store and would does it sell?

What is HMV Vault?

The all new HMV Vault store is opening just months after owners announced dozens of branch closures.

The huge 25,000 sq ft store in Birmingham promises to be a “nirvana for music and film fans.”

HMV’s owner, Doug Putnam says the new store will “simplify the offer” for HMV’s customers by combining “clicks and mortar.”

Where is the store?

The new store is opening in Dale End in Birmingham’s city centre.

It claims to be Europe’s biggest entertainment store – reflecting “the resurgence of the HMV brand.”

HMV announced just months before the opening of HMV Vault that they would be shutting branches around the country.

They closed stores in 27 locations, including two in Manchester, one in London’s sprawling Westfields and also Merry Hill – a shopping centre close to Birmingham.

What does HMV Vault sell?

HMV Vault promises to sell vinyl, CDs and DVDs and features its own dedicated stage for live music performances.

The company said it would have an “unrivalled” selection of LPs as sales of trendy vinyl hit a 25-year high.

HMV said it would also stock an “unparalleled” range of specialist music titles, plus movies, books, posters, T-shirts and exclusive merchandise.
