FANS of Krept were concerned for his safety after a man was slashed backstage at BBC Radio 1Xtra Live on Saturday.
Rumours quickly spread that the London rap artist had been attacked during the altercation, which took place at Arena Birmingham – however, he has since spoken out. Here’s what we know about the incident so far.
What happened at BBC Radio 1Xtra?
The concert took place on Saturday 5 October – in addition to Krept, the star-studded line-up included Aitch, Wizkid, French Montana and Ms Banks.
During the show, a fight broke out. Pictures taken at the time show many involved in the altercation with some even being thrown to the ground.
An emergency evacuation then took place with event-goers ushered out of the building 40 minutes earlier than expected.
A Radio 1 spokesperson tweeted: “Following an isolated serious incident, we have had to stop 1Xtra Live in Birmingham. We are co-operating fully with the police to establish what has happened.”
West Midlands Police then confirmed that someone had been stabbed, tweeting: “Security @ArenaBirmingham alerted police to an assault which took place in the backstage area at 10pm on Saturday.
“It’s understood that a man sustained a slash wound during the assault. He was treated by on site medical staff and did not require hospital treatment.”
Was Krept stabbed?
Those in attendance took to Twitter claiming the rapper had been stabbed.
One person wrote: “Yeah Krept definitely got stabbed still but hopefully it’s nothing too serious..”
Another wrote: “Apparently Krept got stabbed in the leg BACKSTAGE at 1Xtra… what kind of shit security have they hired that people are walking in with knives in the first place.”
While a third added: “Krept stabbed backstage at the 1Xtra show in Birmingham, people moving mad, but the City is getting out of control how does that even happen.”
However, it’s not yet been confirmed if the rapper was the person who was slashed at the gig.
Konan, Krept’s musical partner, did take to Twitter after the incident to confirm “bros good” – although he did not confirm the rapper’s injury.
Kritikal, another close friend of Krept, added on Instagram “Bro is good”accompanied by the prayer and heart emojis.
Krept himself has not yet said anything on social media.
