COPS kept open a rape probe into Leon Brittan to “bolster” their bungled VIP child sex ring case, it is claimed.
The move raised suspicions that Met Deputy Assistant Commissioner Steve Rodhouse did so to avoid questioning liar Carl Beech’s allegations against Lord Brittan.

Tory MP David Morris said the force may have been “nobbled by Labour” whose deputy leader, Tom Watson, backed fantasist Beech, 51.
He claimed the ex-Home Secretary, who died in 2015, raped him over a bath.
Mr Morris said it appeared Labour targeted Mr Brittan and undermined the Met in a political “witch-hunt”.
Ministers have accused Met Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick of “washing her hands” of the force’s handling of the disastrous investigation.
A senior Government source said of last week’s damning report on it: “It’s clear that it raises serious questions about leadership, yet the public have heard very little from Cressida Dick.”
The source told The Sunday Telegraph: “There are concerns that she has washed her hands of this.”
