Cops with sniffer dogs swooped on the OS463   flight from Vienna to Manchester and told Austrian Airlines to cancel Thursday’s trip so more checks could be made.

One passenger said: “We sat down when all of a sudden there was a big fuss.” Everyone was individually swabbed for explosives in a process that took four hours.

Nothing was found.  Austrian Airlines apologised to passengers who were affected  but added:  “We will never compromise on safety.”
