TWO people have been killed in a house fire in Suffolk this morning after neighbours woke up to screams for help.
Firefighters raced to the blaze to a semi-detached home at 8.20am.
Ian Bowell, area commander for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, said crews arrived to find a “fully-developed fire” with “smoke and flames coming out of the ground floor and upstairs windows”.
He said firefighters entered the house to try and rescue those inside, but that sadly two people died at the scene.
He said: “That’s absolutely tragic and the community they lived in is in a complete state of shock at this time.”
Neighbour Karen Rodrigues said she felt “helpless” as she watched the flames tear through the building.
She told the BBC: “I awoke to hear people shouting for help, I looked out and saw smoke coming from the property.
“The flames were very intense, you could see it raging through the house.”
Mr Bowell said officers are working with Suffolk Police to establish the cause of the fire.
