THIS footage shows the moment a suspected shoplifter was sent flying through the air by a car as he tried to escape.

The suspect, believed to be in his 20s, sustained a fractured skull following the collision on Beal Lane in Shaw, Greater Manchester.

In the video the suspected thief was seen dashing out of the shop and straight into the path of an oncoming car.

The man was sent flying through the air.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “The incident was a result of a suspected theft from a shop where the male ran onto the road and was hit by a vehicle.

“Officers are still investigating and enquiries are ongoing.

“The casualty’s injuries are believed to be serious but not life threatening.

“He is believed to have sustained a fractured skull.”

The collision happened shortly after 6pm on Wednesday. It’s thought the man had fled the ‘News, Food and Booze’ newsagent.


A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: “We were called just 6pm to reports of a road traffic accident involving a vehicle and a person.

“We sent an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle and one man, believed to be in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.”
