The 45-year-old said: “To be honest it pretty much caught me by surprise, I spotted him up there but didn’t think much of it and as I was changing lanes my focus was on my mirrors.
“Only when I glanced back I realised he actually thrown something and by then I couldn’t react quick enough.
“Only when I calmed down did I realise how serious it could have been.
“Luckily cars behind backed off when they saw what happened. It took a few seconds to contemplate what had actually happened …

“Had I completed changing lanes it could well have hit right at my face.”
Leeds Live contacted West Yorkshire Police for comment.

It’s not the first time people have taken to UK motorways to endanger the lives of motorists.

One idiot yob hurled a traffic cone off a pedestrian bridge on to a High Wycombe motorway below.

In the footage, shared by Street Blogs UK, the young thug is egged on by his mate behind the camera who says: “Alright, go on.”

As it bounces in the left hand lane of the fast-flowing traffic, a car narrowly manages to dodge it.

Others used fake flashing police lights to terrorise motorists, brazenly careering through red lights without a seat belt in Stamford Hill, north London.

Last month, a woman crashed into a concrete barrier on a motorway after being taunted and abused by two men driving beside her laughing hysterically.

Kaysha Plant, 23, was driving to work on a Melbourne motorway when two men pulled up alongside her, filming themselves taunting her and repeatedly yelling “I will fight you”.
