KEVIN Webster is in for a shock in Coronation Street next week when his sister Debbie arrives with some surprising news.
She breaks the news to him that their Auntie Vi has died and has left her £200k in upcoming scenes of the ITV soap.
Kevin’s gobsmacked when Debbie tells him she wants him to have the money.
But Kevin – Michael Le Vell – tells Debbie that he can’t accept the cash, leaving Debbie frustrated.
Meanwhile, Kevin’s daughter Sophie – played by Brooke Vincent – is clearly not enjoying her new course.
When girlfriend Paula – Sterling Gallagher – drops round, Sophie is delighted when she presents her with a leather satchel and new laptop for her first day at college.
But when her phone beeps with a photo of Kate Connor on a sunny beach, she gazes at it wistfully, unaware that Paula’s watching.
Later, as Sophie pours over some text books, it becomes clear that the course isn’t for her.
When Debbie clocks that Sophie isn’t enjoying her new course, she implores her niece to follow her heart.
Will Sophie ditch Paula and college to go travelling with Kate?
The Sun Online exclusively revealed back in August that Sophie would leave the cobbles after inheriting thousands of pounds as actress Brooke heads off on maternity leave.
A source exclusively told The Sun Online: “Debbie’s return is tinged with sadness as she returns to tell her brother Kevin about a death in the family.
“But it’s not all bad news as with the death Debbie has come into a huge sum of money and she wants to share the wealth.
“She hands over a cheque for £200k for Kevin and the kids.”
The insider added: “After weeks of hearing Kate bang on about her travelling plans, Sophie realises she has the perfect opportunity for her.
“She’s not fulfilled by her job and she’s growing tired of life on the street living with her dad and Jack.
“Sophie decides to ask girlfriend Paula to take a career break and go with her to see the world and she’s stunned when she agrees.”
However, The Sun Online can reveal that Paula will change her mind at the last minute and not go leaving Sophie and Kate to travel the world together.
Actress Brooke will go on maternity leave later this year as she plans to welcome her first baby with footballer boyfriend Kean Bryan.
Faye quit her role as Kate on the street earlier this year after four years.
A Coronation Street spokeswoman declined to comment.
