MEN who share their name with Jeffrey Epstein have revealed their agonising ordeal of being sent death threats from people mistaking them for the dead paedophile.
When the 66-year-old was arrested for sex trafficking charges this year, men who have the same moniker have been subjected to online abuse.
The owner of a flooring company in Tucson, Arizona with the Twitter handle @JeffreyEpstein was told he was the “scum of the earth”.
One Twitter user wrote to him on July 18: “YOU’RE NOT A REAL MAN. YOU’RE A SLEAZY SLIMY SCUM OF THE EARTH WEASEL!”
He has had the Twitter handle since July 2008, shortly after billionaire financier was jailed for 18 months in Florida after being guilty of prostitution charges including soliciting a minor for prostitution.
The banker cut a sweetheart deal with prosecutors which meant he paid compensation to his victims and registered as a sex offender.
However, the hedge fund manager only served 13 months.
‘THAT’S NOT ME’
The flooring company owner with just 54 followers sometimes replies clarifying he is not THAT Epstein.
One tweet reads: “Let’s get 1 thing straight. I am not That Jeffrey Epstein”.
He said he doesn’t plan on giving up the Twitter handle anytime soon.
He told Gen.Medium: “I’d be skeptical about giving it up and then having someone make it into a parody account where they can post irresponsible information, causing further embarrassment to my name.”
After Epstein was arrested this year, another unfortunate man with the same as him was again subjected to abuse.
Dr Jeffrey S. Epstein, who is a hair transplant specialist and facial plastic surgeon in Miami, Florida, told his office to be prepared for the inevitable calls and emails.
At least 50 people have made comments in recent months, the plastic surgeon told Gen.Medium.
He added that his 20-year-old daughter got “a hard stare and look of empathy” when she borrowed his credit card.
Epstein’s death came two weeks after he was placed on suicide watch when he was found nearly unconscious in his cell with injuries to his neck.
Law enforcement officials confirmed on August 10 he had taken his own life at Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, which is where he had been held without bail pending trial on child sex-trafficking charges.
Chief Medical Examiner Dr Barbara Sampson announced on August 16 that the death was a “suicide”.
She said she made the determination “after careful review of all investigative information, including complete autopsy findings”.
Epstein’s autopsy revealed that the financier had multiple broken neck bones, often consistent with strangulation.

When the paedo was found dead in his cell, the Arizona businessman tweeted: “It’s been an amusing morning having @JeffreyEpstein as my Twitter handle.
“Pretty surreal to have my name tagged next to words like death, suicide, rapist, pedophile, monster etc…. The other Jeffrey Epstein was a despicable human being and as far as I am concerned good riddance!
“Hopefully the truth still comes out about his actions but I look forward to my name becoming more obscure as the news of his crimes and death passes over time.”
