ANDY C is at home headlining festivals, selling out stadiums and arenas as he is playing intimate raucous shows for his adoring fans at his annual 13 week residency in London at XOYO that have kicked off the last few years for the drum and bass pioneer.
This summer has been business as usual for ‘The Executioner’ and to mark the changing of the season we asked Andy to select and tell us about ten tracks that have defined his dance floors. Read and listen below…
Tom Walker – Not Giving In (Andy C remix)
I did a remix of this and I’m really pleased with the response. I took an emotive tune and tried to make it work at festivals. I played Glasto in the field in the night and Tom Walker was actually raving out to it and uploaded his antics to instagram, so that was cool.
Sub Focus – Solar System
Brand new, first heard him drop this at Snowbombing in the Alps. It’s become an absolute festival monster as they always are from him.
Skantia – Cluster
Brand new signing to Ram. During my XOYO run I was road testing some of his tracks and this one causes devastation when the bass drops. It’s a great antidote to loads of emotional breakdowns.
Dilinja – Hard Noise (Break remix)
Classic Dilinja brought up to date in typical classy style by Break that blends the old and the new and is perfect for getting deep down and grimy.
Junk Mail – Lockstock
An inescapable sound, the track is an absolute stormer to pop into a slaying set … Banger oi oi!
Voltage – Black Mamba
I first started playing this one out during my XOYO residency earlier in the year and it’s carried through into my Summer sets!
Andy C – Back and Forth
Have included one from myself; it was put together with a view to keeping that captivating old-school essence with a renewed sound.
Beatles – Come Together (Urban Dawn remix)
An absolute anthem! It’s a tough track to remix with it being the Beatles and Urban Dawn has totally smashed it. He nailed the vibe with that drop, it works perfectly.
UK Apache with Shy FX – Original Nuttah (Chase & Status remix)
This Summer I was in Ibiza with the guys (Chase & Status) and they told me about this remix (the original being an all-time jungle classic of course); down the club in the evening that followed was unreal. They played it out as their last tune and about 3 million rewinds later, I let the guys know how massive the track was!
Culture Shock Neighbourhood
This one is simply … one for the heads. I played it out at Sonar in Barcelona and the carnage that unfolded was crazy.
