A LONE yachtsman was plucked from death after a fall knocked him unconscious at the helm of his sea-tossed boat.
The sailor blacked out — watched only by his two terrified pet dogs.
Winds pushed his 30ft vessel into rocks off Weymouth, Dorset.
But coastguards spotted him and winched him into a helicopter. He recovered unharmed in hospital and his dogs were also uninjured.
Coastguard Tony Goss said: “The vessel was banging against rocks.”
He added: “The casualty was on board with his two dogs and was very dazed having previously been knocked unconscious as a result of a bang to the head.
“Our first priority was for him and we assisted in winching him out of the boat.

“He was assessed by the medical teams and it was found that thankfully he hadn’t suffered any serious injuries.
“Unfortunately it would seem that the vessel did succumb to the elements but the most important is that the sailor was okay.”
His two dogs were also unharmed in the incident.
