MERCEDES McQueen will be left for dead after being shot in an explosive autumn plot in Hollyoaks, The Sun Online can reveal.

The pub landlady – who is played by actress Jennifer Metcalfe in the Channel 4 soap – will be shot in the dramatic storyline that will see eight village favourites come under suspicion for the crime.

Mercedes is going to be shot in an explosive whodunnit later this year

Soap boss Bryan Kirkwood exclusively told The Sun Online: “This has been the year of Mercedes terrible decisions and there’s no one better in soap at making terrible decisions and we love her.

“We love what Jen’s done with Mercedes this year, even though we’ve been screaming at the TV throughout the months.

“The discovery of that threat to Harry on that phone again is the incident that leads to a massive week after stunt week which is all about who shot Mercedes McQueen.”

Mercedes infamously threatened to kill Harry if he exposed her for being the person behind the wheel of the car that knocked Grace down.

Harry was later murdered by Breda McQueen but it will be Mercedes who comes under suspicion.

The autumn trailer revealed the moment Joel discovered the recording Harry took of Mercedes’ confession and confronted her.

Bryan added: “Joel is a good man, and Joel is an honorary McQueen.

“So Joel wants to believe that Mercedes wasn’t capable of killing Harry but he’s the first person to have heard her horrible threat she made the day Harry died so he is torn.

“He is going out with Mercedes’ cousin Goldie and he has a loyalty to the family, but he also has seen that he has seen something in Mercedes’ eyes and no she’s not telling the whole truth.”

* Hollyoaks airs weeknights on Channel 4 at 6.30pm with a first look episode following at 7pm on E4
