MOVIE goers are terrified by new horror film Ready or Not – but UK fans still have a week left before they can watch.
Social media has exploded with chatter about the release since it dropped in the US, with tweets urging viewers not to watch because it is “f***ed up”.
The movie follows Grace (Samara Weaving), an orphan marrying Alex (Mark O’Brien).
He’s part of the wealthy Le Domas family, who made their fortune in board games.
On her wedding night, the family force Grace to participate in an old family ritual: every new member of the family must play a midnight game selected by an antique box.
The card selected is hide-and-seek – meaning Grace needs to spend the night running (and hiding) for her life as the Le Domas family try to hunt her down by sunrise.
A fan said: “y’all ready or not was such a good f***ing movie… a true horror movie that made me scared.”
Another added: “Ready or not was real f***ed up movie like I don’t wanna blow up I’m low-key scared asf”.
One person was worried about her future in-laws: “So after i watched Ready or Not, i am even more scared with marriage. What if i get f***ed up in laws? What if my in laws are some psychotic murderers? What if my husband is also f***ed up swine?”
A third couldn’t sleep after watching the film: “Can’t sleep – still on too much of a high after seeing #ReadyorNot. Such a great take on the hide-and-seek horror film. I think it may be my favourite movie from this year (so far), just edging past #TheKidWhoWouldBeKing.”
The movie stars Samara Weaving – Hugo Weaving’s niece – and doesn’t just deliver the scares, but laughs too.
The dark horror comedy is getting rave reviews from critics as well as viewers.
While it was released in America on August 21, it’s set to hit UK screens on September 29.
