EASTENDERS fans are concerned for Callum Highway after he broke down jsut seconds after speaking to Ben Mitchell.
The former soldier – who is played by actor Tony Clay in the BBC soap – had stood mechanic Ben up on their first official date after saving Bobby Beale’s life.
Bobby had been drawn onto a train track after hearing the voice of his dead sister Lucy in his head.
Fortunately, Callum spotted Bobby and found him and saved his life after Bobby was almost hit by a high speed train in a dark train tunnel.
Meanwhile Ben went to the restaurant for their first date but thought he had been stood up until he heard his brother Ian get a call from Callum telling him about Bobby being taken to hospital in an ambulance.
Callum stayed with Bobby in the hospital while his family joined and he shared a touching moment with Ben.
“I’m really sorry about our date,” he told Ben who teased him.
“Who said it was a date?” Ben said adding: “You just saved my nephew and put your own life in danger for my family.
“I mean if you’re going to stand someone up, I’ve had worse excuses. I’ve always wanted to date a hero. I don’t suppose I’ll be free again.”
Telling Ben that he would call him, Callum made his exit but once he was behind the door he began sobbing in the hospital stairwell.
