TOP Boy made its debut on Netflix last week with its first season on the streaming platform – and, needless to say, fans are absolutely raving over the show’s revival.
But where exactly was the Netflix series filmed and what are the specific locations used? Here’s all you need to know…
Where was Top Boy season 3 filmed?
Netflix shot a number of scenes for the series out in Thanet, which isn’t too far from Canterbury.
The cast and crew, which includes rapper Kane Robinson and Ashley Walters, spent the end of August and early September of 2018 filming for the show around Cliftonville, Margate and Ramsgate for several episodes.
The crew was later seen in Athelstan Road and at the Lido site and Plain of Waterloo, which is also located in Ramsgate.
Fan and resident of the area, Nikki Humber, caught cameras filming at the Lido sign site, with the crew setting off fireworks, which appeared to have been for the purpose of a major scene on the show.
Is the Summerhouse Estate real?
The Summerhouse Estate is actually a fictional housing state based in Hackney, East London.
While the housing complex isn’t real, fans should know that the De Beauvoir estate where the show filmed many of his iconic scenes does actually exist.
The majority of filming took place in the Hackney area, near Haggerston and Dalston, which has seen a number of onlookers posts photos of the cast gearing up for a number of action-packed scenes.
In January, for example, several actors were spotted filming an intense police chase scene in the streets of London, with a number of actors playing police officers.
In the midst of filming the third series, Ashley Walters had revealed that the cast had been approached by real London drug dealers while working on their territory in East London.
Speaking of the incident, the former rapper explained: “We’re shooting at places where this stuff goes down.
“We were filming on an estate where, you know, where the local guys that were dealing couldn’t deal because we were shooting.
“So they were asking, ‘we need money?’

What will happen in the new series of Top Boy?
The award-winning show originally aired on Channel 4 from 2011 to 2013 and attracted an international audience thanks to its hard-hitting story lines about life on a London council estate.
Series three picks up as Dushane (Ashley Walters) returns from exile to his home in London to reclaim his throne in the highly lucrative drug market.
He teams up with Sully (Kane Robinson), his spiritual brother, partner and sometime rival who is also returning to the same streets after his own form of exile – prison – comes to an end.
Awaiting them both is Jamie (Michael Ward), the young, hungry and ruthless gang leader whose ambitions leave no place for Dushane and Sully.
