SAVED By The Bell is returning with original characters AC Slater and Jessie, confirmed NBCUniversal.

Mario Lopez, who played ripped A.C Slater, had the best curly mullet in Hollywood when the series first aired in 1989.

The actors have remained close over the last three decades and have appeared on numerous talk shows together where they often teased rebooting the show.

Now a revival penned by The Mindy Project’s Tracey Wigfield is in the works.

Told from a teen’s point of view, Saved By The Bell examined the high’s and low’s of six enterprising teenage students, including their romances and relationships.

The new plot will find California governor Zack Morris in hot water for closing too many low-income high schools.

He sends the affected students to the highest-performing schools in the state — including Bayside High — and “gives the over-privileged Bayside kids a much-needed and hilarious dose of reality.”

What’s more, fans will see how teenage sweethearts Jessie and Slater’s lives have intertwined once more.

However, Mark-Paul Gosselar, who originally played teenage heartthrob Zack, Dustin Diamond (Screech) and Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle) have not signed up to the show.

Dustin has suffered a rocky few years after his 2006 sex tape leaned and he was ordered to stand on trial for weapon offences in 2015, later releasing a tell-all book titled Behind the Bell, which the rest of the cast strongly refuted.

Dustin starred in Saved by the Bell, which ran from 1988 (when it was known as Good Morning, Bliss) to 1993, and its spin-offs Saved by the Bell: The College Years (1994) and Saved by the Bell: The New Class (1994-2000).

Later the actor toured as a stand-up comedian and appeared on a series of game shows.

He did the rounds on Celebrity Big Brother, The Weakest Link, Celebrity Fit Club, Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling and Celebrity Boxing 2.
