A HUSBAND who beat cancer twice is now a millionaire after winning the lottery jackpot – despite almost forgetting to buy a ticket.

Stu MacDonald from Bend in Oregon, won a massive $4.6million (£3.6million) after hitting the Megabucks jackpot on September 7, lotto officials revealed.

He revealed that each week, his wife, Claudia, would tell him to ‘buy the winning ticket’ – however this week, she forgot.

Stu, however, did not. And moments after stepping into Ashley’s Cafe in Bend, he became a millionaire.

He said: “I am a very lucky guy. I have survived cancer twice and here I am. This is amazing.”

Stu opted to take home a bulk sum payment of $2.3million, which after taxes still left a nice $1.56million in his pocket.

The win follows one lucky winner in the UK who cashed in a £1million jackpot with just one day left to claim their win.

The soon-to-be millionaire in East Yorkshire waited until the final hours before they luckily cashed in their prize, had it gone unclaimed the fortune would have been put towards charitable projects.

Camelot UK Lotteries Limited, operator of The National Lottery, announced today, September 3 that a claim has been made in relation to the £1million prize from the Lotto draw on March 6.

It was reported in July that a lucky lottery winner who had scooped £1m had just six days left to claim their life-changing prize.
