X FACTOR star Rhydian Roberts has asked fans to pray for his mum who is critically ill in hospital after a fall.
The singer took to Twitter to tell people his mother, Angela, was in ‘critical’ condition.
The 36-year-old told his nearly 13,000 followers: “My sweet mum is in a critical condition in hospital after a severe fall. I feel sick to my core and devastated. Please pray for her, I know she’d appreciate it. Her name is Angela.”
Rhydian has always been close to his mum and she has been supportive of him throughout his career.
During his time on The X Factor – where he came second in series four – she could be spotted in the audience of the live shows jumping up and down, screaming in support, and wearing a T-shirt with his face on.
People were quick to offer the opera singer support in this difficult time.
Actress Dani Harmer wrote: “So sorry babe!! Sending all my love to you and Angela.”
Singer and actress Brenda Edwards commented on the tweet with the prayer emoji.
While a fan wrote: “Praying for your mum rhydian. May Angela know the healing touch of our Lord, keep her safe, wrap her family in your love, in Jesus name we pray, amen.”
Another added: “I pray that the spirits gather around Angela and give her healing and love. I am so sorry to hear of this sad news, please take strength from the lovely messages.”
Angela is the director of the Crossroads Caring for Carers charity in Cardiff.
Rhydian shot to fame in 2007 when he came second in The X Factor, beaten to the top position by Leon Kennedy.
He’s released five studio albums, including an album of Welsh songs.
Also, he has performed on stage for years, featuring in pantomimes and stage plays including Rocky Horror Picture Show and Cinderella.
POPULAR IN TV AND SHOWBIZ
Last year he was caught up in the Roxanne Pallett fake assault scandal, where she accused Ryan Thomas of punching her on Celebrity Big Brother last year despite clear evidence to the contrary.
She was due to appear on stage alongside Rhydian in Cinderella for the Chesterfield pantomime at Christmas.
But it was revealed she exaggerated accusations about the Welsh singer too.
A theatre source told The Sun Online at the time: “Rhydian was upset by the ordeal.
“He told pals he has been a victim of her exaggerated accusations too and was dreading working with her on the pantomime and because he thought it could happen again.
“He didn’t initially know she was going to be in it when he signed up. He was scared to be in the panto with her and if she didn’t drop out, he would.
“It would also be a massive blow to the theatre as she is no longer a big ticket draw.”
Eventually, she did drop out of show.
