THE Downton Abbey film has only just hit cinemas but already fans want to know if there will be a sequel.
We take a look at the possibility of second trip to the famous mansion.

Will there be a Downton Abbey film sequel?
Although it hasn’t been confirmed, there is a good possibility there will be a Downton Abbey 2.
Creator Julian Fellowes is being very coy about the whole thing, but he hasn’t said no.
He told RadioTimes.com: “I don’t know.
“I mean, one – I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow, and in the end it’ll be very much down to how the film is received, if they like it and if they enjoy it.
“And if we feel there is an appetite for more, then – maybe.”

Have the cast of Downton spoke about a sequel?
Jim Carter has teased a movie sequel saying: “There’s plenty of room for more.”
The acclaimed actor, who plays Mr Carson in the beloved drama, told This Morning that the cast would love to return to the franchise.
He said: “The funny thing is Holly that people are already asking that and the movie isn’t even out yet. And we are thrilled people are asking.
“I think there is plenty of room for more, and I’ll be there. There is definitely potential and I think we’d be very happy to do it.”

What happens on the Downton Abbey film?
The movie revolves around a royal visit from King George V and Queen Mary.
It follows on a year from when the TV show ended and pick up in 1927.
With the Great Depression looming the Crawleys are having to tighten their belts – and see their army of servants reduced.
The movie sees Carson the butler, played by Jim Carter, summoned out of retirement by Lady Mary to try to restore glory to Downton as they prepare for their royal visit.
The film also sees Lady Mary considering whether to leave the estate forever – however, her trusty maid and confidant Anna Bates is on hand to attempt to sway her to stay.
Downstairs the servants are just as excited for the King George’s visit with cook Beryl Patmore starting her preparations.
But their feathers are ruffled as the royal household takes over, so the Downton staff stage a comeback.
Meanwhile, Branson gets a new love interest and the Dowager Countess is also back with lots of witty one-liners.

When was the Downton Abbey movie released?
Downton Abbey movie will hit UK cinemas TODAY (September 13, 2019), before coming out in the US a week later.
The film runs for two hours.
Filming wrapped on the movie back in 2018 and it was announced in a Facebook post that read: “143 unforgettable scenes, 50 wonderful days, 1 glorious film.”
