REALITY TV star Kristin Cavallari has been slammed for posting a 9/11 Instagram tribute in a plunging black dress plugging fashion brands.

She faced the backlash for an “always remember” online message which her normally loyal fans deemed “super insensitive” and “tone-deaf.”

Cavallari , 32, was pictured standing on the streets of the Big Apple with the caption ‘NYC for 24hrs. And what a time to be here..always remember.’

However, tagged in the photo were multiple fashion designers, including her own brand Uncommon James, plus her makeup artist Robert Sesnek and stylist Owen Gould.

After being blasted online, Cavallari –  who has 3.7m Instagram followers – quickly went into damage control mode.

Page Six reports it has been claimed one of the star’s social media team “took it upon herself to post the image with a modified caption without Cavallari’s knowledge.”

The unnamed worker has now been fired over the post made on the 18th anniversary of the terror attacks.

Cavallari ’s representative confirmed the sacking to Fox News saying: “Yes that’s correct.”

The controversial Instagram caption has since been modified to simply read  “NYC for 24hrs.”

However, the original post had already been seen by thousands who were quick to point out they were far from impressed.

“Wrong picture for the sentiment in the post,” one Instagram user commented on the photo, which shows Cavallari in a low-cut blazer with no bra.

“Seems like the spotlight isn’t exactly on September 11th here,” another follower added.



When was 9/11?

On September 11, 2001, a group of al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked four airliners.

Two planes – American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 75 – crashed into the North and South towers of the World Trade Center complex in New York City.

Another was flown into the Pentagon in Washington DC and the fourth crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after a struggle between the hijackers and passengers.

Of the 2,996 who died on 9/11, including the 19 hijackers, 2,606 were killed at the World Trade Center and the surrounding area.

Both towers collapsed following the impact, with debris causing more deaths and injury on the streets below.

Many people including the emergency response teams lost their lives trying to save others.

It was the worst loss of life due to a terrorist incident on US soil.

“Maybe today isn’t the day to market your brand or yourself.. in NYC. #disappointed,” one user pointed out.

Another added the post was “just disrespectful and undermining the magnitude of the events that occurred on that horrific day.”

One simply wrote: “You look fabulous. Bravo for your action to a unfeeling jerk.”

It’s not the first time the former The Hills star’s online posts have made the headlines –  for all the wrong reasons.

In 2016, Cavallari also faced intense scrutiny after sharing a candid family photo which critics claim showed her young son with a “malnourished” back.

She posted a picture of her sons Camden, three, and Jaxon, two, playing alongside her husband Jay Cutler during the Fourth of July celebrations.

Cavallari ‘s big television break came in her junior year of high school when she starred on Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County.

She later had a role on The Hills and performed on Dancing With The Stars before finding a series on the E! network with her husband, former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, in Very Cavallari.
