JERSEY Shore’s The Situation is set to be released from prison today after serving eight months for tax evasion.

Mike Sorentino is reportedly leaving Otisville Federal Correctional Institution in New York today, after he reported to the institution on January 15, according to inmate records from the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

TMZ has reported the 37-year-old reality star will walk free anytime after 12am on Thursday.

There is growing speculation Mike’s Jersey Shore pals, including Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Pauly D, and Snooki, will be waiting at the prison gates to meet him, or if they will reunite at their old Jersey mansion to celebrate.

A source told the publication members of the MTV show jetted to New York on Wednesday ahead of Mike’s release date to give him a warm welcome when he returns home.

And his pals are ready and raring to record the moment they lock eyes on him, and mark the occasion with a big bash.

Prior to Mike’s return home film crew were seen pitching up equipment in the Jersey house they filmed Jersey Shore family Vacation last year.

He was put in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion in January last year.

Mike and his brother Marc allegedly failed to pay almost $10 million in income tax for two years from 2010 to 2012.

Just months later, in October 2018, Mike was sentenced to eight months behind bars, two years of supervised release.

Mike also had to carry out 500 hours of community service and handed a fine of $10,000.

He was also demanded to pay back $123, 913 in restitution, which he has already paid.

While Marc was handed a longer sentence of two years after he pleaded guilty to aiding the preparation of fraudulent tax return.


 

Prior to his sentence Mike married his sweetheart Lauren Pesce in November 2018.

Mike shot to fame on Jersey Shore after it hit the screens in 2009, and was known for his wild partying, his heated rows with fellow housemates.

He previously admitted he previously checked in to rehab to deal with his prescription medication abuse, but has been sober for almost four years.
