SERIAL killer Stephen Port’s drug dealer has been caged for life over the chemsex murder of a Bond actor he targeted on Grindr.

Gerald Matovu plied Eric Michels, 54, with lethal drug GHB at his home in Chessington, Surrey, then made off with his bank cards and a suitcase full of booze.

The actor, who appeared in Skyfall, was one of 12 men targeted by Matovu, 26, and his lover Brandon Dunbar, 24, during a drug-fuelled 19-month rampage.

Matovu has now been caged for life with a minimum of 31 years after being convicted of murder and 38 other offences at the Old Bailey.

His lover was sentenced to 18 years in jail with five on extended licence after he was found guilty of 23 offences.

Mr Michels ex-wife Diane Michels, said losing him was “the worst kind of nightmare” in an emotional victim impact statement.

She added: “My view of the world has changed. I was always a glass half-full type of person. Now I view people with distrust and am wary of my ability to judge others accurately.
“This has been exacerbated by the callous disregard for Eric’s life that has been displayed in court by the defendants. I never imagined people could be so wicked and my fear and anxiety for the safety of those I care for is now unimaginable.”

Jurors heard the pair preyed on their lovers by spiking their drinks with GHB to steal from them and fund their chemsex habit.

After their victims were rendered helpless, they swiped laptops, phones and cash snapped pictures of their credit cards to use for taxi fares.

The couple also stuffed suitcases with clothes and worthless “trophies” – including lightbulbs and toilet brushes.

On August 16 last year, divorced father-of-three Mr Michels made contact with Matovu on Grindr after a night out in Soho gay bars.

Mr Michels invited him to his place in South West London for sex but the killer gave him a fatal dose of GHB before stealing his possessions.

The actor was discovered dead the next day by his 14-year-old daughter, who bravely paid tribute to her dad in court.

She said: “At 14 I never expected to walk into my own father’s house and find him lying dead in his bed. I would never want anyone to experience that.
“My dad was my best friend as well as my father, I could literally talk to him about anything, so it’s really hard to accept that I have lost both.”

Her brother Sam Michels, 21, who was at home the night he was killed, added: “He was everything to me and I’m completely and utterly lost without him.”

Juroes were not told Matovu had supplied drugs to chef Port, who raped and murdered four young men before dumping their bodies near his home in Barking between 2014 and 2015.

Following his trial, Matovu pleaded guilty to supplying mephedrone and GHB and offering to supply GHB, but denied knowing what Port planned to do with it.

Matovu, of Southwark, was convicted of six counts of administering a noxious substance, seven thefts, six counts of having articles for fraud, murder, assault by penetration, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possessing GBL drugs.

Dunbar, of Forest Gate, East London, was found guilty of three counts of administering a noxious substance, five thefts, six counts of having articles for fraud, two frauds, assault by penetration, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and dishonestly retaining wrongful credit.

Sentencing, Judge Anne Molyneux QC branded Matovu a “highly dangerous predator”, adding: “All were victims of your total lack of respect and callous behaviour.

“You calculated they would be too embarrassed to report the full extent of what happened to them.
“They showed dignity and courage in giving evidence in the trial.”
