Strictly Come Dancing’s Jamie Laing was left in tears at his early exit as he doesn’t think he’ll be asked back next year

The Made In Chelsea star, 30, was forced to drop out of the dance competition after injuring his foot during the launch show’s opening group number.

Appearing on This Morning today, Jamie admitted he was left in tears after being told he had to pull out.

He said: “I cried. I just wanted to be Madonna and dance. I said to everyone, it’s a dancing show, why am I getting so upset about it?

“It’s so embarrassing. It’s my mum’s fave show in the world and I didn’t tell her I was doing it. She found out when I was on Loose Women and it was revealed.”

The McVitie’s heir , who was briefly partnered with professional dancer Oti Masbuse, went on to reveal how he had damaged his plantar fascia, which he felt “pop” while sliding along the floor in the group routine.

Jamie added: “I had a feeling that it wasn’t good. I went to four different specialists to find one of them that would say it was going to be OK. But everyone went, ‘It’s just not going to be OK’.”

“I had a meeting with the guys from Strictly and they were really wonderful. It’s quite an upsetting thing. When you’rein a show like that you make friends with everyone and it’s a bit of a bubble, so when that’s taken away from you, it’s pretty upsetting.”
Despite his current injuries, host’s Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby hinted for the reality star to set his sights on other shows.

Phil asked: “Can you skate?”

Holly added: “Oh yeah you might be ready for Dancing On Ice…hang on you are a bit accident prone. I’m not sure about being on ice.”

Phil said: “There is the jungle coming up.”

Jamie joked: “Let me do all of them, I will just go from one to the next.”
Last week, The Sun Online exclusively revealed the star was forced to withdraw from the show after awkwardly landing on his foot.

A show source said: “It’s touch and go for Jamie and bosses are waiting to see how his results look after he gets a proper X-ray done.

“Producers are hoping he’s just landed awkwardly during the group dance and tweaked something rather than it being a more serious injury.

“They’ll know if his Strictly journey is over before it’s even really begun in the next 24 hours or so.”

The BBC later confirmed the news in a statement, saying: “Sadly, due to an injury, Jamie Laing will no longer be able to take part in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing. As the Strictly launch show is pre-recorded, Jamie will still feature in this programme which airs Saturday September 7.”
Former soap star Kelvin Fletcher was chosen as Jamie’s replacement.

Kelvin –who played Andy Sugden in Emmerdale from 1996 to 2016 – couldn’t contain his excitement as he took to Instagram to announce the news.

The 35-year-old said: “It’s been the most surreal week of my life. I’m a massive fan of Strictly so it’s incredible. I’m so happy that I can be a part of it.”
