JAMES Argent has been slammed for being rude to Alex Brooker after being overtaken on Sink or Swim.
The former TOWIE star has admitted his confidence was knocked when he saw his 35-year-old teammate whizzed past him, pushing him into third place, during a five kilometer training swim ahead of swimming the Channel for Stand Up To Cancer.
But after being overtaken by The Last Leg comedian Arg admitted defeat and pulled out.
He said: “I hated every second of it. I can’t even look my team mates in the eye, I want to go home before they get out the river.”
In conversation with the rest of the group the 31-year-old claimed he had got cold.
He told his pals: “I did quit. I started getting cold and stopped then all of a sudden Alex came speeding past me and I felt defeated.
“If I am being honest my head just went. This is the first sport or activity where I am actually in the top three, and when Alex went past me I felt so crap.
“I’m used to being the worst at sport – I never got picked at school for sports.
“So for me to be near [the] top of the class for this competitive swim…it’s made me feel good about myself.”
The coach, Ross Edgley, urged Arg to shake this mentality because they are a team.
However, Arg’s reaction offended Alex, who said to Arg: “You know I love you.
“It’s hard not to take it personally, to think you saw me going past and thought ‘oh sod it if he is going past me and he is that crap I may as well get out.’
“I have worked so hard. My biggest concern is being an asset to the team, I don’t just want to be carried.”
Viewers were also unimpressed by Arg’s remark, as one tweeted: “Did Arg just quit because a disabled person beat him? Utter disgrace of a human being.”
“Alex should slap arg with a wet fish! He is so bloody selfish! Be pleased for your team mate”, wrote another.
Another blasted the reality star: “Arg behaves like a 5 year old”, while another added: “Arg is childish & so negative! He gives up when the going gets tough not because he can’t do it! Because of his childish attitude.”
A separate viewer wrote: “After Arg was so unforgivably rude this week, I’m so chuffed Alex has made to swim the channel. What a great guy!”
