Given that almost a decade has passed since Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) awoke from his coma, you’d be forgiven for losing track.
Fortunately, super fans have been taking to Reddit to compile a comprehensive guide to the show’s timeline, documenting all of the death and destruction one would expect from the zombie apocalypse.

But many were stunned by just how rapidly things deteriorated for Rick and co as they battled to stay alive in a world full of walkers.
For example, early antagonist Shane Walsh (Jon Bernthal) managed to drive Rick to murder him in just threemonths by muscling in on his marriage.
Then less than a year after the gang settled into the abandoned prison, Negan and Lucile’s skull-crushing reign of terror kicked off.
In fact, between Rick’s awakening and his helicopter evacuation in season nine, just three years had passed.

It was only then that the whopping 5-year fast-forward took place that saw the establishment of the allied communities.
Suffice to say many fans were left gobsmacked when the calendar of carnage was laid before them.
“Hang on, did Shane seriously make a play on Laurie that quick? In my head they thought Rick had been gone for years! Savage,” one Twitter user quipped.
“Damn, Rick didn’t waste any time taking care of Shane did he?” another joked, alongside a string of a laughing emojis.

Meanwhile a third remarked: “God this has really made me appreciate Carol’s character development. She got badass in a hurry.”
The timeline comes ahead of the show’s return next month.
Already a romance between Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Ezekiel (Khary Payton) has been confirmed, while it has been promised that Michonne’s subsequent exit will have “fallout and emotional consequences.
