GRIEVING Mel Owen will clash with Sharon Mitchell in EastEnders next week as she prepares to bury her dead son, Hunter.
Sharon and husband, Phil, spot withdrawals from the E20 account and quickly figure out that Mel is behind it and cut her off.
When she realises what’s happened, Mel – played by departing star Tamzin Outhwaite – is distraught at not being able to pay for Hunter’s funeral and angrily confronts Sharon.
Meanwhile, Phil tells Jay Brown to find someone else to arrange Hunter’s funeral after the teen killer shot Ben and held pregnant Louise at gunpoint.
Later, a cash-strapped Mel goes to speak to Jay about the funeral.
She asks him if they can scale it back, but she’s left mortified when Jay tells her he can no longer arrange the funeral.
Despite Phil’s meddling, Jay – Jamie Borthwick – eventually lets Mel into the funeral parlour to be with Hunter. Lisa Fowler finds her there and the pair take a fond trip down memory lane. Mel finds that Lisa’s support gives her strength.
When the day of the funeral arrives, Mel leans on Lisa for support. Over at the Mitchell house, Phil is adamant that no Mitchell will go near the funeral, which leaves Louise conflicted. What will she do?
Later, Mel and Lisa head over to the Vic but the Mitchells are there and tensions reach boiling point.
Things get even worse when Phil realises that Jay went behind his back to help Mel out with the funeral.
A row kicks off and Mel leaves. Back home, Mel is surprised when Sharon drops round to try and smooth things over.
But after the day’s events, the pair are soon at each other’s throats, which leads to Mel making a shock decision.
