THIS MORNING took home the Best Daytime Show gong at the TV Choice Awards last night, but some fans of the show were unhappy that the programme’s Friday hosts, Eammon Holmes and Ruth Langsford were ‘forgotten’ at the ceremony.

The series’ main presenters, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, as well as fill-in host Rochelle Humes, were at the event at London’s Park Hilton hotel to collect the trophy, but Eammon and Ruth were not there to get their recognition.

And several viewers of the long-running show were quick to point out their absence on Holly’s instagram post celebrating the win.

“Ruth and Eammon forgotten again,” said one.

“Where’s Eammon and Ruth?” a second asked.

“Where are Eammon and Ruth, hopefully they were either there or at least acknowledged!!” demanded a third.

“They probably couldn’t be arsed with it cuz they don’t get a look in anyway” replied another. “It’s always about these 2 [Phil and Holly].”

Holly wasn’t letting the comments get her down, however, as she took her two awards for the night, netting a gong for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! too.

She wrote on instagram: “Thank you to the readers of @tvchoicemagazine it always means so much to know you have watched the shows and voted… on behalf of @thismorning and @imacelebrity … thank you so much!!!! 💋

And despite fans being disgruntled, it turns out there was a simple explanation as to why Eammon and Ruth weren’t in attendance at the showbiz bash.

Eammon and Ruth fronted the show throughout the summer[/caption]

“Eammon was working on his talkRADIO show, which doesn’t finish until 7pm, so that’s why he couldn’t make the ceremony,” reveals our insider. “Eamonn and Ruth would normally attend events representing This Morning together, so she decided not to attend alone.”

Ruth has also kept a low-profile outside of work in recent weeks as she has still been grieving the sudden passing of her beloved sister, Julia.

She returned to her This Morning duties after a short break this summer following her sibling’s death, but hasn’t attended any red carpet events.

In fact, it looks like Ruth opted for a cosy night in front of the telly instead, as she posted on her instagram account that she was looking forward to watching her pal Rylan Clark’s Supermarket Sweep reboot.

Meanwhile, back at the ceremony, Piers Morgan called Holly and Phillip “snivelling b*******” as the show beat Good Morning Britain to another TV Choice Award.

Taking to to the podium to present Lorraine Kelly with an outstanding contribution award, he turned to the pair and jokingly launched into a four-letter rant at them.

He said: “I hate you, you snivelling little b******!

“Every time we come to these things we get told it’s our time. It’s never our time, it’s always their time.

“F*** you and f*** your rules. We’re all part of one big happy family. Are we f***.”

The audience burst out laughing at Piers’ joke, and this morning Phil and Holly celebrated their win on air.

At the start of the show, they held their trophy and thanked viewers for their continued support of the programme.
