Gary Windass returns to Coronation Street next week and is shocked to discover what his stooge, Derek Milligan has been getting up to while he’s been away.

Gary – who’s played by Mikey North in the ITV soap – has been using Derek as a cover while he’s secretly funded the Underworld rebuild with dead loan shark Rick Neelan’s money.

Gary Windass is confronted with an old face from the past – who turns out to be a love rival

But when Gary returns from visiting Nicola Rubinstein and baby Zack in Bristol, he’s seething to learn from Nick Tilsley that Derek has been signing contracts and agreeing to rent reductions in his absence.

That’s not all though – Gary is absolutely fuming when he finds out that Derek has asked his ex, Izzy Armstrong, out on a date.

Gary berates Derek for signing paperwork without him before menacingly ordering him to finish things with Izzy.

Later, Derek tries to let Izzy down gently, saying it’s too awkward for him to date Gary’s ex.

Gary comes face to face with old stooge, Derek

Izzy points out that he’s Gary’s boss and can do what he likes. What will Derek say?

Izzy is keen to pursue the spark with Derek, even when he confesses to her that he’s got a serious drink problem.

She promises to help him with his battle with the booze, which is when he asks her out on a date.

Derek was one of Rick’s clients and Gary has been using him as cover, claiming he’s a rich businessman who’s invested in the factory.

Gary tells Derek he should dump Izzy – his former girlfriend – immediately

The evil builder found a safe stuffed full of money in a storage unit belonging to his murder victim Rick.

But instead of just using the money to buy a house or fund his life, Gary instead decided to blackmail a man who owes him money in order to secretly own the factory himself.

Claiming to have found an investor willing to fund rebuilding Underworld, he introduced Nick and forced the man into making a show of hiring him as the builder.
