The girl then immediately begins crying for help while lashing out at the suspect – who casually walks away following a short struggle.

After the attack, the woman is seen dashing away to talk to some people on the other side of the road.

She appears to say: “He was just trying to abduct me.”

A neighbour heard her screams from inside his home but didn’t think anything of it until he checked his front door security camera later.

“I looked at that video. He was definitely trying to take her,” said the local, who did not want to be named.

“I have daughters, so I hope they catch him because that’s not cool. Trying to snatch up young girls out there.”

Kate Gonsalves, who also lives nearby, said she is appalled the woman’s echoing screams appeared to go unheard but applauds her quick thinking.

“I think she did everything right,” she said.

Police arrived a short time later and took a statement from the woman, who was not physically harmed during her ordeal.

They are now hunting the suspect for questioning over the shocking “attempted abduction.”

Cops describe him as a black man between 40 and 50 years old, about 5ft 8ins, of medium build and balding.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket with a white shirt, dark blue jeans and black shoes.
