Wagamama’s Firecracker Chicken Curry has 31.2g and Itsu’s No Meat Mondays salad has 25.3g.

YO Sushi! Korean Fried Chicken dish has 23.6g.

The British Dietetic Association said the levels were “of real concern for obesity levels, general health and dental health”.

Katharine Jenner, of Action on Sugar, said: “You’d hardly believe these meals were so high in sugar. It’s very concerning.”

YO! said its new menu will see a 23 per cent cut in sugar.

Itsu said it provided a wide range of low-sugar options.

Wagamama did not comment.
