STRICTLY Come Dancing’s Michelle Visage was forced to make a last minute dash to the UK with only hours to spare before the launch show after staying in America to get her biopsy results.
The RuPaul’s Drag Race star, 50, has lived with the debilitating Hashimoto’s Disease for 20 years, which then lead to complications with her breast implants.
After having a biopsy on her thyroid, Michelle had to wait in the US for the results before making her way to the UK to record the Strictly launch show.
She told The Sun Online: “I came off the plane last night and here I am today.
“No rest for the wicked, I got off the plane last night and went down to the rehearsals so I could learn this number that they [the other celebrities] learned in a week in a half.
“I got an hour, they got a week and a half. So don’t look at me too much in the opening number!”
Hashimoto’s disease is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the thyroid.
The condition lead Michelle to decide to have her breast implants removed earlier this year, and speaking about her health, she said: “My biopsy. In a nutshell, I’ve had Hashimoto’s disease for 20 years, and I didn’t know that I was supposed to follow it up.
“Then it grew in the past two years when I was going through a whole thing with breast implant illness.
“[My doctor] said ‘I want you to get it [a biopsy] before you go [to the UK]’, and I said ‘can’t I just get it in January?’
“So I went and got it, and obviously when you get a biopsy you think about it 24 hours a day, and I woke up this morning and it came in benign so I was like ‘no I can do this’.
“Now I’m up and dancing!”

Michelle certainly didn’t want to let her health get in the way of her Strictly dream, as she revealed she had always avoided taking part in the show’s American counterpart in the hope she could join the BBC show one day.
She said: “I didn’t want to do Dancing with the Stars because I was waiting for Strictly.
“All I wanted to do was Strictly. I had friends on Dancing With The Stars in America, so they gave me their advice, and I’m not going to take it because they didn’t get very far!”
The Strictly Come Dancing launch show airs at 7.10pm on BBC One tonight.
