ACROBATIC dancers Gao Lin and Liu Xin astonished Britain’s Got Talent viewers with their gravity-defying routine that saw Liu stand on pointe on her husband’s shoulders.

It was one of the most talked-about performances of the 2017 series, and now they’re back for tonight’s show to remind us why they ruled that stage a few years ago.

Who are Gao Lin and Liu Xin and what happened on Britain’s Got Talent?

Couple Gao Lin and Liu Xin are Chinese acrobatic dancers who wowed Britain’s Got Talent audiences with their impressive routine in 2017, that saw Liu stand on her husband’s shoulder on pointe, on one leg.

Their complicated moves require perfect synchronicity and a lot of training – and their hard work has certainly paid off as they are thought to be a shoo-in for the live grand final of the talent contest.

The duo received a standing ovation for their performance as the crowd roared with enthusiasm.

Amanda described their act as “absolutely extraordinary” while Simon Cowell said that they “made everything that was extremely difficult look easy”.

Alesha Dixon said that it was a “faultless audition” and “world-class”.

The pair did not make it beyond the audition stage.

However they are back for Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions.

What is the immigration blunder around their entry to BGT in 2017?

The Sun revealed that a clause in the BGT terms and conditions states acts “must have the right to live and work in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Republic of Ireland” and the acrobatic couple, who come from China, only have visitation rights to the UK.

This means the pairing are not technically allowed to take part in the competition.

An insider told The Sun Online there had been a major administrative blunder.

The competition’s terms and conditions had actually been changed in 2015 but this had not been updated online.

A source said: “This is a case of a cock-up rather than conspiracy.”

If the couple won the show, the insider also confirmed they would not need to change their visas to accept the £250,000 as it is not paid work.

Have they been on TV before?

Besides Britain’s Got Talent, the pair also competed on Asia’s Got Talent in 2015.

They made it to the live finals but were beaten in the end by Filipino shadow puppet troupe El Gamma Penumbra.

Their first audition amazed audiences, who gasped and clapped along with every trick.

Asia’s Got Talent judge Mel C got up in the middle of judges’ comments to award the pair her Golden Buzzer.

The duo have also auditioned for China’s Got Talent and China’s So You Think You Can Dance.

Are Gao Lin and Liu Xin married?

As well as being dance partners, Gao and Liu are a married couple, and actually got engaged during their memorable appearance on Asia’s Got Talent.

During the grand final, Gao Lin turned to his girlfriend and asked her to marry him following their stunning wedding-themed acrobatic performance.

He said: “We have been together through thick and thin. I would like to take this opportunity on stage to ask you a question.

“Will you marry me?”

The audience naturally loved it and the judges clapped and cheered as Liu agreed to the proposal.

Did they really steal their act from other dancers?

Ukrainian act DuoFlame have accused the dancers of copying them claiming their act is similar to the one they performed on Ukraine’s Got Talent in 2013.

According to the Daily Star, they said: “Their act is the same as ours. We did that routine on Ukraine’s Got Talent.”

However, Gao Lin defending himself and his wife saying: “Our style may seem similar to DuoFlame but we are different and have choreographed our routine ourselves, to include ‘ballet on the shoulder’, specifically for Britain’s Got Talent.”

Another similarity between the two acts was that they both proposed to their other halves on stage on the different talent shows.
