Jamie Laing was seen on crutches at the weekend and has now confirmed he is quitting the new series of Strictly[/caption]
Kelvin, 35, who was recently slammed by a charity for using his phone while driving, is one of several names being considered to succeed Jamie, 30, who was “devastated” following the routine rehearsal graze.
A source said: “Bosses are considering Kelvin carefully and think he has the mix of charisma and acting credentials to entertain viewers.
“Although it isn’t certain they will ask him, his chances are as good as anybody’s at the moment, especially since Jamie’s injury has come so close to the beginning of the series.
“Kelvin quit Emmerdale to pursue other career prospects and few things are better at raising celebrity profiles than appearing on Strictly.”

His name is currently being mooted with others including I’m A Celeb star Emily Atack and show host Tess Daly ahead of the 17th series which begins with this Saturday’s launch show.
