FORMER Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley says her hubby is being teased about her running off with a Strictly dancer — but vowed not to fall prey to the show curse.
Catherine, 35 — married to personal trainer Tom Pitford for three years — said ahead of Saturday’s launch episode: “He’s got a WhatsApp group with his mates, a lot of them rugby players, and there is a lot of banter.
“They’re all like, ‘Oh mate, you’re screwed, she’s gonna run off.’
“But I’m just like ‘Whatevs,’ because it’s not something I’m worried about. We are happily married.
“Tom has actually just been super supportive and really excited for me.”
The couple have a four-year-old son called Alfie, and Catherine went on: “He is buzzing too and wardrobe have found him a little sequined bow-tie.”
She also told how Tom, 31, was used to her working with handsome men after playing flirty Rovers Return barmaid Eva Price.
She added: “Tom has been on set when I have been snogging the face off actors.
“And I am used to faking my emotions, so to me it’s not a thing.”
Catherine, who lives in Manchester, has narrowed down her potential dance partners to the tall Aljaž Škorjanec, 29, or Johannes Radebe, 32, due to her being 5ft 6in.
She said: “They are the only two dancers they could put me with because of my height.
“They are both wonderful. I’d love anybody that will have me and is patient enough!
“I am really nervous. I genuinely cannot dance and people keep going ‘Oh I am gonna put a bet on you’ and I am like, ‘No.’
“I think people are going to be really surprised.”
Meanwhile Olympic rower James Cracknell, 47, joked he won’t be affected by the infamous curse — because he doesn’t think he will last on the BBC show long enough.
James, who split from his wife of 17 years Beverly Turner in 2018, is now dating US financier Jordan Connell, who he met while studying philosophy at Cambridge.
The dad of three said: “I’m not worried about the Strictly curse. I may not get to know my partner that long if I’m not in it for very long. I’m more worried about not being able to dance, that’s the biggest concern for me.”
But James compared the female dancers of Strictly to a stable of thoroughbreds.
He said: “It’s like having an amazing array of racehorses and saying, ‘So, which one do you fancy today?’”
Single Radio 1 DJ Dev Griffin confessed he would be up for hooking up with his dance partner.
The presenter, 34, said: “People are like ‘Are you worried about hooking up with a professional dancer?’
“I’m like — ‘No’. It’s not one of the reasons I did the show, but it’s not not a reason.
“I haven’t actually got my eye on anyone in particular, I think a lot of them are happily married.”
He added: “I’m prepared for attention. You don’t sign up to Strictly and then go, ‘I’m shy’. It’s gonna happen.
“I’ve told the costume department to ramp up the sequins — I want to be head-to-toe in them.”
The curse of Strictly struck most recently with last year’s winner Stacey Dooley, 32.
She left her boyfriend, personal trainer Sam Tucknott, for her dance partner Kevin Clifton, 36.
Last month, pro dancers Neil Jones, 37, and wife Katya Jones, 30, announced the end of their marriage after she was snapped snogging her celeb partner, comedian Seann Walsh, 33.
Singer Louise Redknapp, 44, split from footie pundit husband Jamie weeks after the 2016 series after she got close to partner Kevin Clifton. Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote, 28, left co-star Sean Ward shortly before the Strictly final in 2015.

She is now a campaigner for more understanding about the side-effects of the ops and is urging women to be wary.
Michelle, a judge on reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race, said: “I’m filming a documentary — it’s about breast implant illness.
“Because I’ve recently had my breast implants removed because I was sick for 20 years and didn’t know it. So it’s very common. It’s going to be a slow-to-heal process.
“But in six months I feel so much better.”
Michelle, who missed the Strictly launch due to commitments in the US, added: “I think dance training will help with my recovery, also toxins will leave my body that have been in there for 30 years and the more I sweat the more I get it out.”
