STORMZY and Maya Jama shocked fans when they announced they had parted ways after four years together.
While it was initially believed that their split was caused by their driven ambition to focus on their careers, it’s been speculated that the UK rapper cheated with singer Jorja Smith, which a rep has since denied. Here’s the lowdown on the famous couple’s break-up…
Why did Stormzy and Maya Jama split?
On August 21, it was revealed that Maya Jama and Stormzy had called it quits, with the TV presenter wasting no time in having her belongings removed from the home she shared with her former beau.
Fans were stunned by the news since it was just a few days prior when Stormzy had attended Maya’s 25th birthday bash at Night Tales bar in Hackney, East London.
A source close to the TV presenter shared: “Maya has moved out of their home in South West London.
“The decision isn’t one she has come to lightly, but ultimately the relationship has come to an end.
“She wants to focus on her TV and radio career for now.”
Maya and Stormzy had been together for four years, and while they both claim to have ended their relationship on good terms, the MTV host has since unfollowed her former flame on Instagram, suggesting there’d been trouble in paradise.
Maya and Stormzy secretly dated for over a year before they slowly began going public with their relationship in 2016.
The rapper had dedicated his song Birthday Girl to Maya on her 22nd birthday, something which she said was a “great present because it will last forever.”
She has made several cameos in some of his music videos, including Big For Your Boots, and the pair would regularly make red carpet appearances together.
Prior to their split, Stormzy had said he was ready to propose to his other half.
He told the Sunday Mirror: “I’m still so young but I want to propose, it’s going to happen and I will do it right. She is so sick, she is the best.”
The pair risked a potentially awkward run-in at the GQ Awards on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 just weeks after they called it quits.
However, the fact they were both attending the same event did not seem to bother either of them as Maya partied with TV presenter AJ Odudu.
Meanwhile, the Vossi Bop rapper posed for pictures with stars including David Beckham and Sam Smith.
What has been said about Maya Jama and Anthony Joshua’s relationship?
Anthony Joshua has been teaching Maya how to box, while shooting for a new campaign with Lucozade.
Later, the professional boxer featured on the 25-year-old’s Twitter page and her fans went wild.
Maya shared a selfie with the father-of-one on the site, captioning the post: ‘Working with this one today @anthonyfjoshua.’
She also shared some behind the scenes videos from the shoot on her Instagram Stories.
Her fans were quick to comment on the post, with one writing: “We love to see it.”
Another added: “The new power couple, early stages,” while a third commented Maya “knows what she’s doing”.
What are the rumours about Stormzy cheating?
Following news that Stormzy and Maya had split, the rapper was forced to deny rumours he had cheated on his former girlfriend with close pal Jorja Smith.
Fans took to social media to let their thoughts be hard, with a number of them claiming the Shut Up rapper had become involved with Brit Award-winning singer Jorja, 22 – a rumour which a representative for the stars has since denied.
They told Metro: “I can confirm any accusations or reports surrounding Stormzy’s infidelity to Maya are categorically not true.”
Comments on social media included: “So stormzy cheated on maya jama with Jorja Smith, ELITE.”

Another person wrote: “Dude pammed Maya Jama and Jorja Smith… bro Stormzy is GOAT thats the most elite CV ever.”
Elsewhere, another fan continued: “I’m seeing people saying Stormzy cheated on Maya with Jorja Smith ??????????? I- Woz going on????.”
Fans didn’t seem to believe that Maya ended her four-year relationship with Stormzy over her career-related reasons, which seems to have led to the assumption that Stormzy cheated.
But, as previously revealed, a rep is firmly standing by its statement, saying that there’s no truth to the rumour.
