TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson wanted an unusual present off her husband for her birthday – an AFFAIR.
The blonde was keen on getting a different sort of gift after only having sex with her partner once in EIGHT years.
The 52-year-old who divorced this summer has opened up about her sexless marriage, her battle with the menopause and the effect her marriage had on her.
The former Gladiators host told The Daily Mail about how being banished in the bedroom – despite her waning sex drive – was the last thing she needed.
The mum-of-four explained how the sex life between her and third husband Brian Monet – who she met in 2006 – went from fruitful to non-existent even in the early days of their relationship.
The couple tied the knot in March 2008 and have a son together, Malcolm, who was born in June 2008.
On April 2 2019, Ulrika announced that she had split from Brian after 11 years of marriage.
Having already had two failed marriages, the TV veteran was keen to make this marriage work – but found it impossible without any intimacy – and the reassuring arms of her husband while she went through hell during the menopause.
She told The Daily Mail: “I stood in my kitchen on the brink of my 50th birthday, I felt so horribly alone. “Or that the crazy idea of finding intimacy outside of my marriage might offer a solution momentarily made sense to me.
“But… this thought was transitory and born out of sheer desperation — infidelity was an act I knew full well I would never actually embark on, let alone seek Brian’s permission to pursue.”
The TV favourite explained how she was desperate for her husband to reach out. She said: “I longed for Brian to tell me: ‘Forget that you’ve gained ten pounds and your body’s changing — I still fancy you like crazy and want to have sex with you because you are the woman I love.’ But he didn’t.”
But, she explains, she wasn’t going to let her family down. She continued: “I knew damn well I didn’t want to be with anyone else; that I revered the family we’d built together too much to betray it.
“But I also couldn’t reconcile myself to never being touched or made love to again.”
The pair split in April with Ulrika telling The Sun: “I was living in a sexless marriage for nearly a decade.”
However, despite saying that her “mating days” were over and that her “ship has well and truly sailed”,
The Swedish beauty has had a colourful relationship past. Her first husband was cameraman John Turnbull.
They were married between 1990-1995 and share son Cameron who was born in 1994 but it ended after she had an affair with his friend Phil Piotrowsky.
She went on to have a fling with Gladiator’s star Hunter James Crossley, 45, before dating footballer Stan Collymore, 48, who infamously attacked her in a Paris bar.
Ulrika then famously married Lance Gerrard-Wright after meeting him on 2002 reality show Mr. Right.
She gave birth to their daughter Martha in May 2004 but the pair later split in October 2005.
She had a brief affair with England football manager Sven-Göran Eriksson, 72, while he was dating Italian lawyer Nancy Dell’Olio, 57.
Ulrika also has a daughter, Bo, with ex-partner German hotel manager Marcus Kempen.
However, the blonde beauty is still keen to find someone to share her life with.
The unlucky-in-love star has signed up to TV show First Dates in a bid to find true love.
The TV host will appear on the Celebrity First Dates episode for Stand Up To Cancer alongside a string of other single celebrities.
