A WOMAN has given birth to her own grandchildren so that her gay son could achieve his dreams of becoming a dad.

Valdira das Neves, 45, gave birth to the babies – a boy and girl called Noah and Maria Flor – in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Teacher, Valdira had suffered a miscarriage four years previously and began to search for alternative ways of becoming pregnant again.

‘DREAM COME TRUE’

She says she “always knew” her son, 24-year-old Marcelo das Neves Junior, was gay and wanted to help him achieve his dream of becoming a dad.

After discussing his plans to become a father with her son, the pair decided to embark on the journey together.

Marcelo’s sperm was used to inseminate an egg from a younger donor and then placed inside his mother’s womb.

Gynaecologist Anderson Melo explained the main obstacle was in the fertilisation process due to the difficulty of implanting the embryo in the womb.

“In these cases, in addition to the supportive belly, which may be the mother or sister, aunt and cousin, daughter or niece, it is necessary to resort to an anonymous donor egg bank,” he told thathi.com.

‘WE ARE LIVING THE DREAM’

But after three failed attempts, Valdira fell pregnant in January this year.

She gave birth to the twins at the Clinical Hospital of Ribeirao Preto on Tuesday, September 3.

Baby Maria Flor was born nine days early weighing 4lb 90z while her twin brother, Noah was slightly smaller at 4lb 8oz.

Noah unfortunately suffered breathing issues and was taken to a paediatric unit after birth.

However, 24-year-old first time dad Marcelo assured well-wishers that his son was fine and would be joining them later.

He told thathi.com: “Almost four years ago, my mother became pregnant with my father, but my little sister was born at seven months and died a week later,” he said.

“We opted for my mother to raise her children, receiving an embryo fertilised by my semen and an egg from a donor,” he explained.

Marcelo describes being a dad as: “A dream come true.”

“Thank God we managed to get pregnant and we are living a dream, the feeling is wonderful,” he added.
