A clip of the moment he performed oral sex on Paige Elkington soon went viral, and now Flume has taken to social media to acknowledge the furore.

Taking to his Instagram page, Flume – real name Harley Streten – insisted that he had been messing about as he apologised to his mother.

Sharing a cheeky photo of himself grinning as he bites into a peach, which is often used to represent a woman’s bottom, Flume wrote: “It was a joke (sorry mum)” alongside a peach emoji.

Flume was performing in front of a crowd in Black Rock City, northwest Nevadan when he leaned into Paige’s bottom and carried out the shock act for several seconds.

Paige posted the clip to her Instagram Story with the message “sorry mum”, with it being shared shortly after she posted a picture of a festival-goer holding up a sign up that said: “Does Flume even eat a**”, writing over the picture: “Lol wait for next story.”

It was later revealed that this is not the first time that Paige has gone viral, with the Oz beauty fetured in a notorious 2017 snap with actor Jeff Goldblum’s arm around her as he held their friend Kate Parfet by the throat.

Flume is a platinum selling and Grammy Award-winning artist.

He opted for the moniker Flume after the Bon Iver song of the same name and since has remixed songs from such artists as Lorde, Sam Smith, Arcade Fire, Hermitude and Disclosure.
