It was revealed on August 1, 2019 on This Morning that Catherine was joining Strictly.

Speaking about joining the dancing show she said: “I am so excited.

“I love to dance on a night out if I have had a couple of drinks, but I can’t actually dance.

“I think choreography is what I am going to struggle with. I am terrified. When I was at theatre school I always swerved dance classes because I was so big. It will be like therapy!”

How much is Catherine Tyldesley getting paid for Strictly 2019?

Catherine’s appearance on the show will definitely increase her bank balance as she gets the standard £25,000 payment for signing up

If she manages to stay on the dance floor until the end of October this then rises to £40,000.

Any star that makes it to the quarter-finals sees their fee jump to £60,000 – and if she wins she will pocket a whopping £100,000.

The professional dancer that Catherine will be paired with hasn’t been revealed yet.

We will find out on August 30, 2019 when the launch show is recorded.

But she has admitted she is hoping to be partnered with either Aljaz Skorjanec or Graziano Di Prima because they are both tall like her.

Catherine, 35, is an English actress from Salford.

She attended the Birmingham School of Acting (formerly the Birmingham School of Speech & Drama) and graduated in 2005.

She is married to personal trainer Tom Pitfield, 30.

Catherine played the role of Eva Price in Coronation Street from May 2011 to July 2018.

What other TV shows has Catherine Tyldesley starred in?

Catherine previously played the role of Abi Peterson in Emmerdale in 2010.

In 2007 she starred as Iris Moss in the BBC drama Lilies.

The actress’ other television credits include Shameless, Holby City, Trollied and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps.

In 2018 she also appeared on the chat show Loose Women as a guest panellist for one episode.


Is Catherine Tyldesley a singer?

Catherine sings in the range of mezzo-soprano and signed a record deal in June 2016.

She released her debut single, Rise, in August 2016 and announced her plans to release an album later in the year.

The actress was unable to achieve chart success with the single and the Official Charts Company confirmed that the single missed the Top 200.

Catherine has admitted she plans to record a duet with her co-star Shayne Ward in the near future.

Strictly Come Dancing is returning for its 17th series on BBC One this September.

On Friday, 23, July, it was revealed via a social post on the Strictly account that the official Strictly start date will be Saturday, September 7, 2019.

The news was accompanied by a short trailer which showed the professional dancers posing in glitzy outfits and trying to out perform each other.

It kicked off with the red carpet launch on Monday, August 26, 2019.

There after the main show will air live on Saturday evenings with the results the following day on Sundays.
