GOOD news for fans of Taskmaster – the comedy show’s season nine begins TONIGHT (September 4, 2019).
It will see five new comdeians doing silly things under the watchful eye of “Little Alex Horne”, the Taskmaster, Greg Davies’ assistant.

When is Taskmaster series 9 on Dave?
Series nine of Taskmaster is back on TV channel Dave at 9pm TONIGHT (Wednesday, September 4).
With the eighth season ending on July 10, fans of the show only had two months to wait for the new programmes.
If you miss the first viewing of any of the ten episodes then you can catch it again on Dave+1, or on UKTV PLay.

How does Taskmaster work?
The Dave TV series stars comedian and actor Greg Davies in the title role of the Taskmaster.
Alex Horne acts as Greg’s assistant and umpire during the challenges.
The Taskmaster’s job is to set simple comedic and bizarre tasks to five contestants – usually comedians.
After the challenges have been shown it is up to the Taskmaster to allocate points – and he can be ruthless.
The winner takes home a trophy of Greg’s head.

Who are the contestants for series nine of Taskmaster?
Every season sees five famous faces take on the Taskmaster.
For series nine they are:
- Comedian and novelist David Baddiel who is know for his work alongside Rob Newman and having a No1 UK hit, Three Lions, along with pal Frank Skinner and The Lightning Seeds.
- Funnyman Ed Gamble who is a familiar face on panel shows such as Mock The Week and another original Dave show Hypothetical.
- Actress, comedian, writer and The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice host Jo Brand.
- New Zealand funnywoman Rose Matafeo who won the main prize at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2018 at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
- Welsh comedian and actress Katy Wix, who has starred in Not Going Out, Miranda and Agatha Raisin.
The series follows on from season eight featuring Love Island voice-over artist Iain Stirling, Inbetweener star Joe Thomas, stand-up comedian Lou Sanders, The Chase’s Paul Sinha and Peter Kay’s Car Share co-star Sian Gibson.
Lou went home with Greg’s golden bonce.

Who is Alex Horne?
Alex, 40, is a British comedian who created and wrote Taskmaster.
He is often referred to on the show as “Little Alex Horne”, although he is in fact 6ft 2inches.
He is also the host of The Horne Section, a live music variety show which is broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and Dave.
Alex has also appeared on Countdown and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
Who is the Taskmaster, Greg Davies?
Greg takes on the role as Taskmaster – assisted by Alex Horne.
He is a stand-up comic who has also starred in The Inbetweeners, Cuckoo and Man Down.
Greg stands at a height of 6ft 8in – and he has size 13 feet.

Will there be a tenth series of Taskmaster?
A tenth series of the hit show has not yet been ordered but all fans will be hoping there will be one in 2020.
It originated as a live format performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The first series was broadcast in 2015, after which its popularity has continued to grow.
The seventh series was the most successful to date with an average of 1.5 million viewers per episode.

Josh Widdicombe won a Champion of Champions edition in 2017.
Fans are hoping that after series 10 has aired another Champion of Champions will take place pitting series 6-10 winners against each other.
