THE MET Office have warned that temperatures in the UK will plummet tonight with some areas of the UK experiencing lows of 4C.

As the glorious summer weather draws to a close, Brits can expect showers and rain across the North and South East of England and lower than average temperatures for this time of year.

In the latest forecast from the Met Office, they warn of a breezy, chilly night tonight with temperatures plunging to low single figures in parts of Northern England.

Rural areas of Scotland and the North of England will see overnight temps as low as 4C.

The Met Office predict initial showers that will give way to cold winds across the countryside in particular.

Moving on to tomorrow the miserable weather continues – although the daytime will thankfully see more sunshine than rain.

Rain in Scotland will move across the South East of England but should largely miss the South.

However, even in London the Met Office predicts “lower than average temperatures,” of between 15 to 20C.

The weather is expected to be chilly but just about manageable in areas of sunshine.

As the week draws to a close lunchtime showers will soak Wales and the South East of England with similar temperatures to the rest of the week.

The weekend will see slightly more sun and less rain but temperatures will continue to tumble as Brits brace themselves for autumnal weather.

The gutting change in weather comes as Met Office figures revealed the three months from June to August were Britain’s 12th warmest since records began in 1910.
